The double front porches are especially nice for enjoying your morning coffee. The front of the house faces to the west and the left side with all the windows faces to the south. The huge front yard provides tremendous privacy. The house comes with several wonderfully rich and easy to work beds for gardening. Stones are not native in Carteret County. Some of the beds can be cared for without even bending over. The gardens have been enriched with homemade compost for the last seven years.

There is a stamped concrete patio on the north side of the house. It has propane piped to a grill outlet. The buried gas tank is located out by the street and is of sufficient size to handle a propane-powered generator. The large garage has a storage loft. The yard is equipped with an irrigation system. The house has excellent cable modem service which recently tested at speeds of 455 Mbps down and 23.4 Mbps up. The house has Cat 5 Ethernet wiring from the second floor to the office/loft.

Twenty-five feet behind the garage is the dock with a side pole lift which works well for my 20ft. Sundance skiff with 90 HP Yamaha. The dock and bulkheads got new boards with stainless steel screws in August of 2018 just before Florence. At the same time we added a new fish cleaning station with seasonal water and sink. There was no damage to the dock or cleaning station during Hurricane Florence. This house is in a very sheltered area- our boat has stayed on the lift for all hurricanes since we moved here in 2006 including Irene, Sandy, and Florence. Besides the boat lift, there is kayak launch area behind the home.

The beaches of Emerald Isle Beach are less than 15 minutes away. Swansboro is 15 minutes by car and under 15 minutes by boat. There is great red drum, flounder, and trout fishing in the river just a 10 minute paddle from the house by kayak. Fish have been within sight of the house. A paddle home and the fish can be in a pan cooking less than thirty minutes after they were caught. It is easy to fish the marshes near Swansboro with with a skiff and get home in time to be at work by 9 AM. The Intracoastal Waterway is under fifteen minutes by marked channel. The water behind the house is tidal with a minimum depth of two and one half feet and a normal maximum of three and one half to four feet. Bogue Inlet and the Atlantic Ocean are 20 minutes by boat.
